you cut me down until I am the size of a sand-pebble.
Your words leave welts on my bones.
No-one can see the marks you left.
Hidden under a pelt that stings.
How many times I’ve murdered you in your sleep until I realize that I’m already dead myself.
I died a thousand times before you and a thousand times more since I met you.
Each time you threw a name at me.
Each time you slammed me against a wall.
All the sleepless nights I spent waiting for you to let go of your death-grip on me so I could climb out of bed and slip away in the night.
A thousand times I tried.
A thousand times I died.
I’m numb to it all now.
Cold steel drags across the wooden floor.
Slowly I creep, I can’t take it any more.
A thousand times I raise the axe.
A thousand times your skull cracks.
A thousand times I wake.
We’re still here, for hell’s sake!
